In 2016, George had the opportunity to teach Sound Engineering for Ventura County schools under its Career Technical Education (CTE) state-wide push. George obtained his CTE credential and in his first four years teaching, he taught at Thousand Oaks High School, Oak Park Continuation School, and Santa Susana High School in Simi Valley. These schools typically don’t have in house CTE educators so the county supplies them for select courses.
The county also established the Career Education Center in Moorpark where they would bus students from around the county to take specialized courses in career technical training. George formulated curriculum based on his industry experience and has created courses in Digital Media, Sound Engineering and Music Production, Broadcast and Intro to Video Production.
While teaching, George integrated himself into the education community and notable contributions to education include:
• Won the 2019 VC Innovates Pathfinder Award for Excellence in CTE Education
• Nominated and Served on the State of California’s K12 SWP Selection Committee
• Created Multiple Custom Databases Tracking SLO’s for All Stake Holder Data at the CEC
• Created and Awarded $7500 of Gabriel Music Scholarships to Eleven Outstanding Students
• Completed Two Full-Year PBL Trainings Focusing on Cross-District Projects Through High Tech High
• Served as Head on Two WASC Committees Focusing on Data Management and SLO Outcomes
• Created Academi Studios Providing Profit-Bearing Opportunities to Help Launch Careers of Graduates
George also started a group to reverse the severe ratio discrepancy between male and female composers by creating the League of Young Women Composers as only 6% of working composers are female. This group started in February of 2019 to mentor young talented women to achieve excellent production quality, understand client relations, delivery protocols, digital footprints and business acumen so they can succeed in their passions.
Now in his 6th year of teaching, George exclusively teaches afternoons at Santa Susana High School which is an arts magnet school. He teaches Broadcast which runs a bi-monthly school news program KSSH-TV. He also teaches Intro to Video Production and Sound Engineering and Music Production.
